I have been providing teletherapy for 3 years now and I love it. I like to describe telehealth like HEAVEN to my clients who are unsure about trying it out. Interestingly enough, since COVID19 changed the game, my clients who were once apprehensive about trying it are now the biggest fans of it. They now realize that they have been missing a heavenly experience! These are my recommendations for preparing for your first teletherapy appointment.
H – Have all your documentation turned in to your provider for an easy transition.
E – Estimate 1 hour to an hour and a half for the first session to get to know you well.
A – Ask your provider to share the plan of what happens if you can not connect or you lose connection.
V – Value the time you have by signing 30 minutes early to check your internet connection and device.
E – Expect to have a good connection with your therapist and chances are you will.
N – Navigate the session by thinking about what you want to share (challenges, medications, accomplishments, etc.) and writing that down before the session.
Teletherapy can be a heavenly experience saving you time, money, and energy in a way that supports the lifestyle changes you desire in your life.
